I’ll be writing…

I confess to being a bit unsympathetic when people complain about being bored. It isn’t that I’ve never experienced the phenomena, but more often I find myself with too many things I want to do and not enough time to do them all. There are so many great things to do, experience, and enjoy.

One of the things I am most passionate about (after family) is storytelling. I love to consume stories—as books, TV, movies—but I also love to write my own. When I look back over the last year, my biggest regret is that I didn’t spend more time writing my own fiction. I want to do more writing more than almost anything, but to do that I’ll have to cut back on other things I enjoy. It is all about making tough choices.

I love the blog and the people who visit here, but for the next little while I’ll be giving the blog a rest. I don’t want to set a time limit, because I’m cutting back on a lot of things and I may find I’ve cut back too much. I may come back to the blog sooner or more often than I expect. So, I hope we will be able to reconnect when I’m feeling more satisfied with the amount of writing I’m getting done. Until then, enjoy life, drop me a line through the contact from if you want to get in touch, and if you’re wondering where I am…

I’ll be writing.

with love,

Charlie

  1. I admit my problem is never boredom exactly, not crunched for time on most things but do tend to procrastinating on projects.

  2. Good for you to assess and make tough decisions, Charlie! Hard to do, but the right thing sometimes is. Take a break, focus on your goals, and add things back in after a little rest. Good luck with the writing!

  9. I could have written this post myself! My problem is not boredom, but a lack of hours in the day to do all the things I want to do. I need to focus like you have, and make writing a priority, rather than something to do when I’ve done everthing else – like ‘tomorrow’ that time never comes!
